The European Gay Ski Week 2010

With 2010's event completly sold out, what a wondrous week it was and what an atmosphere it had, everyone being friendly (and many being very friendly) towards their fellow gay snow bros.

The ski town of Tignes tingled with delight as 800 happy homos took to the slopes, bars, restaurants and clubs.

We enjoyed tip-top entertainment from some of Euroland's best DJs, performers, singers and dancers.

Erasure'ss Andy Bell gave two splendid shows during the week and, of our many other highlights, La Diva Live scintillated with her superb singing and our hot host, Heidilicious, held a highly hilarious karaoke evening, discovering some fine voices and deep throats amongst us. The pool party was a flash splash bash and had many of us squealing in childish delight as we slipped down the water slides, bubbled in the jaccuzis and sweated in the steam rooms. For such a small, but perfectly formed town Tignes had a lot of fine restaurants and some very good bars which were our hosts throughout the week.

The club nights and parties were simply spectacular with so many divided opinions about which one was the best that all we can say is that they were all just brilliant.

So many thanks to Salvation, Trade, Red and Blue, Crazyvores and Primanotte and also special thanks to the crew from La Lagon who hosted our Pool Party and the team up at the Panoramic who turned a mountain restaurant 3300 metres up at the top of the Grand Motte into a full on kicking nightclub. By way of new additions we also have to thank the staff at Val d’Isere’s superb Doudoune Club for coming on board this year and hosting the Trade night, it was a real treat to find a spectacular club such as this up in the Mountains.

and this year we were delighted to see the number of women participants increase expedentially from the numbers attending in 2009, something that would not have happened without the unstinting efforts of our womens co-ordinators, Citypink and Primanotte. We were delighted to have them on board and look forward to working with them again next year.

We also have to thank our two homes from home, Le Coffee whose staff made us welcome every day from dawn till dusk despite the fact that we worked their socks off for the entire week , and then of course never to be forgotten the management and staff of the Melting Pot who hosted our Closing Party and our 'After Hours' every night making sure that our ‘Party Animals’ actually did get home each night, or at least to the book club, albeit at 6 in the morning.

Even though there were late nights and great entertainment everyone seemed to have an unstoppable energy and took to the ski slopes most mornings with incredible vigour. Our ski guides led the more adventurous to practise their perfection in places off-piste, our ski instructors gave confidence to the most basic of beginners and those cruising the pistes went from pitstop to pitstop day by day.

All in all it was so gratifying to all of us working on the event throughout the week, to see everyone making new friends and embracing our events so enthusiastically.

Thank you for making our job such a pleasure, we hope those of you who came enjoyed it as much as we did and that you and your friends will join us again next year for Europes Gay Ski, Board and Party Week.

Ps. For those of you who are already asking about next year, we are in the process of negotiating with several resorts for next year's European Gay Ski Week and will be announcing the full details as soon as we can.

The dates for EGSW 2011 will be either the week of 19th March to the 26th March 2011 or the week of 26th March - 2 April 2011.

2010's European Gay Ski Week is shaping up to, without doubt, be the best one yet. After that a glittering array of nights will be hosted by the cream of Europes gay clubs including the legendary Trade and London's Salvation, together with parties featuring DJ Steven Redant (from Belguim's La Demence), and Lady B (Afterlife, Texas, USA) who will keep you partying through to the small hours every night.
